“Once upon a time in a land far away”… so begins many a tale. This one is the story of Navdeep Jaggi, who completed his chef apprenticeship in the kitchens of the 5 star hotels in New Delhi, India. It was his late father’s dream that his only son would come to America and have his own restaurant. Jaggi and his family have called Palmdale home since 1988. In 1998, Jaggi bought Bakery Express Café, a successful Palmdale original. He recognized the authentic, made from scratch food and made very few changes over the next ten years. In March, 2008, Jaggi opened Romi’s at the Antelope Valley Mall. Jaggi built this establishment from the ground up and it is a beautiful monument to the valley craftsman who created it. In April of 2009, Bakery Express Café moved from the eastside to Romi’s, with both restaurants housed in the same location. Bakery Express Café is open for lunch and Romi’s is open for dinner seven days a week, with brunch served on Sunday.
